Metal forging utilizes pressure applied to metal blanks to induce plastic deformation and alter their mechanical properties. Forging eliminates porosity and voids in the metal, thereby improving the mechanical properties of the metal forgings.

 

Metal forgings have the following applications:
① General industrial metal forgings, referring to civil industries such as machine tool manufacturing, agricultural machinery, agricultural implement manufacturing, and the bearing industry.
② Metal forgings for hydroelectric generators, such as main shafts and intermediate shafts.
③ Metal forgings for thermal power plants, such as rotors, impellers, retaining rings, and main shafts.
④ Metallurgical machinery, such as cold rolling rolls, hot rolling rolls, and herringbone gear shafts.
⑤ Metal forgings for pressure vessels, such as cylinders, vessel ring flanges, and end caps.
⑥ Marine metal forgings, such as crankshafts, tail shafts, rudder stocks, thrust shafts, and intermediate shafts.
⑦ Forging and pressing machinery and equipment, such as hammer heads, hammer rods, columns and cylinders of hydraulic presses, and columns and cylinders of wheelset press machines.
⑧ Modular metal forgings, mainly forging dies used in hot die forging hammers.
⑨ Metal forgings for the automotive industry, such as left and right steering knuckles, front beams, and tow hooks. According to statistics, forgings account for 80% of the weight of an automobile.
⑩ Metal forgings for locomotives, such as axles, wheels, leaf springs, and locomotive crankshafts. According to statistics, forgings account for 60% of the weight of a locomotive.
⑪ Metal forgings for military applications, such as gun barrels, breech blocks, breech support brackets, and towing rings. According to statistics, forgings account for 65% of the weight of a tank.
