Product Overview

This is not just a manganese hammer – it's a dual-metal composite. We start with a high-quality austenitic manganese steel substrate (Mn13 or Mn18), which provides exceptional impact toughness and work-hardening capability. Then, we apply a tungsten carbide (WC) hardfacing layer using a specialized robotic welding process to the main impact and wear zones.

The result? A hammer head that doesn't crack under heavy shock and doesn't wear down quickly against abrasive materials like limestone, clinker, or iron ore. This combination directly attacks your cost per ton – the only metric that truly matters in crushing operations.

Application Note: Ideal for hammer crushers, impact crushers, and reversible impactors in cement plants, mines, and quarries.

Products Description

The table below shows the distinct properties of the manganese core and the WC hardfacing:

Parameter Manganese Substrate (Core) Tungsten Carbide Hardfacing (Overlay)
Material Grade Mn13 (ZGMn13) / Mn18 WC + Cr + Mo alloy
Hardness HB ≤ 229 (as-cast) → HRC ~45 (work-hardened) HRC 62 – 66
Impact Toughness ≥ 150 J (exceptional) N/A (hardfacing layer)
Chemical Composition (Core) C: 1.1–1.4%, Mn: 12–14%, Si: ≤0.6% WC: 60–65%, Cr: 4–6%, Mo: 1–2%
Thickness (Hardfacing) - 6 – 12 mm (customizable per wear zone)
Key Feature Work-hardening, high impact resistance Extreme abrasion & cutting wear resistance

Weight tolerance: ±2% to ensure rotor balancing. Dynamic balancing test available upon request.

Why Choose WC-Hardfaced Manganese Hammers?

Dual-Metal Synergy

The tough manganese core absorbs severe impact forces without cracking, while the ultra-hard WC overlay resists gouging and sliding abrasion. This is the optimal combination for crushing highly abrasive materials.

Dramatically Lower Cost Per Ton

Although the initial cost is higher than standard manganese, the 2–3× longer service life means fewer change-outs, less downtime, and significantly lower cost per ton of crushed material.

Precision Workmanship

We use robotic CNC hardfacing to ensure a uniform, dense overlay with minimal dilution (less than 8%). This prevents spalling and ensures the hardfacing stays intact throughout the hammer's life.

Rotor-Friendly Weight Precision

Strict weight control and symmetrical hardfacing application ensure perfect rotor balance. We can provide dynamic balancing certificates to protect your crusher bearings and main shaft.
