Product Overview

ZG40Cr25Ni20 Investment Casting Grates and Other Mechanical Components are our core product series for high‑temperature industrial applications. ZG40Cr25Ni20 (also known as 2520 cast steel or cast 310S) is a high‑chromium‑nickel austenitic heat‑resistant cast steel, manufactured in accordance with GB/T 8492‑2014 and corresponding to ASTM A297 HK / HK40. This alloy is specifically designed for ultra‑high‑temperature service up to 1100°C under severe corrosive environments. It is widely used in heat‑treatment furnaces, incinerators, roasting furnaces, cracking furnaces, reformer furnaces, and other high‑temperature equipment for manufacturing grate bars, fire grates, hearth plates, charging baskets, radiant tubes, furnace rollers, and other mechanical components.

As a professional manufacturer with more than ten years of investment‑casting experience, Juhe Yulong Special Steel Co., Ltd. is committed to providing global customers with high‑quality ZG40Cr25Ni20 Investment Casting Grates, as well as a full range of heat‑resistant steel and heat‑resistant alloy mechanical components, all available in customised solutions.

Investment Casting – Precision and Quality Assurance

Investment casting, also known as lost‑wax casting, is an advanced near‑net‑shape process. Compared with conventional sand casting, investment casting offers the following significant advantages:

Superior dimensional accuracy

Investment‑cast parts generally achieve dimensional tolerances of CT5 to CT7 and surface roughness as low as Ra1.6 μm, far superior to ordinary casting methods. This means that ZG40Cr25Ni20 Investment Casting Grates can meet demanding assembly precision requirements directly, substantially reducing subsequent machining.

01

Complex geometries in a single pour

Investment casting can produce extremely intricate shapes, including internal cavities, thin‑walled sections, and other configurations that are difficult or impossible with conventional casting. For complex structural parts such as grate bars with ventilation slots, flow channels, and stiffening ribs, investment casting enables integral forming without welding or assembly.

02

Near‑net shape, high material utilisation

Investment casting achieves minimal or no cutting; only a small machining allowance is required on critical surfaces, and in some cases parts can be used after simple grinding or polishing. This saves material costs and shortens production lead times.

03

Broad alloy compatibility

The investment‑casting process is virtually unrestricted by alloy type. Whether it is heat‑resistant steel, stainless steel, or nickel‑based superalloys, all can be formed by investment casting. This provides the process foundation for us to customise components in different materials according to customer service conditions.

04

Flexibility for both high‑volume and small‑batch production

Investment casting is suitable not only for large‑volume standardised runs but also for small‑batch, multi‑variant custom orders. Through cluster‑tree assembly, multiple castings can be poured simultaneously, effectively controlling unit cost.

ZG40Cr25Ni20 Heat‑Resistant Steel

ZG40Cr25Ni20 is a high‑alloy austenitic heat‑resistant cast steel with the following typical chemical composition:

Element Range
Carbon (C) 0.35% – 0.45%
Chromium (Cr) 24.0% – 27.0%
Nickel (Ni) 19.0% – 22.0%
Silicon (Si) ≤ 1.75%
Manganese (Mn) ≤ 1.75%
Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.04%
Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.04%

High chromium content forms a dense oxide film

With chromium content as high as 24%–27%, the material develops a compact Cr₂O₃ oxide layer on the surface at elevated temperatures, effectively resisting high‑temperature gas corrosion, sulphide attack, and flue‑gas corrosion. This property makes ZG40Cr25Ni20 Investment Casting Grates exceptionally durable in aggressive environments such as incinerators and roasting furnaces.

High nickel content ensures stable austenitic structure

Nickel at 19%–22% guarantees a stable single‑phase austenitic microstructure with no phase transformation at high temperatures. The austenitic structure offers excellent high‑temperature plasticity and toughness, so components subjected to frequent thermal cycling are less prone to cracking.

Excellent high‑temperature strength and creep resistance

ZG40Cr25Ni20 delivers reliable mechanical properties: tensile strength ≥ 440 MPa, yield strength ≥ 235 MPa, and elongation ≥ 8%. It retains high strength and creep resistance even at 1100°C, ensuring long‑term dimensional stability without deformation or sagging.

Outstanding resistance to high‑temperature gas corrosion

This alloy possesses superior creep‑rupture strength and effectively resists carburisation in carbon‑bearing atmospheres and sulphidation in flue gases containing sulphur.

Excellent thermal‑fatigue resistance

Under frequent heating and cooling, and under rapid thermal cycling conditions, ZG40Cr25Ni20 demonstrates remarkable thermal‑shock resistance, with minimal risk of thermal‑fatigue cracking.

Extended service life

In continuous high‑temperature service, components made of ZG40Cr25Ni20 can last three to five times longer than ordinary heat‑resistant steels, translating into lower maintenance costs and longer equipment uptime.

Investment Casting + ZG40Cr25Ni20 – A Perfect Combination of Dual Advantages

When investment casting is combined with ZG40Cr25Ni20 heat‑resistant steel, the two advantages reinforce each other, producing a synergy far greater than the sum of the parts:

11

Dense microstructure with minimal defects

The investment‑casting process, applied to ZG40Cr25Ni20, yields castings with a fine, dense structure free from shrinkage porosity and cracks. This is critical for load‑bearing parts such as grate bars and hearth plates that operate under high temperature and heavy loads – because any structural defects would rapidly propagate into failure modes at elevated temperatures, and investment casting minimises such risks.

Dimensional precision meets thermal stability

Investment casting gives components accurate dimensions and smooth surfaces, while ZG40Cr25Ni20 provides dimensional stability at high temperatures. Together, they ensure that Investment Casting Grates maintain precise assembly tolerances and clearance fits even in hot environments, avoiding jamming or premature failure due to uneven thermal expansion.

Complex functional geometry with high‑performance material

Grate bars require precisely designed ventilation slots for optimal airflow; radiant tubes need uniform wall thickness for efficient heat transfer; hearth plates require reinforcing ribs to sustain heavy loads. Investment casting can produce all these complex functional geometries in one pour, and ZG40Cr25Ni20 ensures that these structures maintain their intended performance over prolonged high‑temperature exposure.

Flexible balance between customisation and standardisation

Whether you need standard‑size ZG40Cr25Ni20 Investment Casting Grates or custom‑designed high‑temperature mechanical components according to your drawings, investment casting handles both with ease. We can mass‑produce standard grate bars for routine requirements, as well as offer one‑to‑one full customisation for specific furnace types and operating conditions.
