Description
Product Overview

Our supplied ASTM A182 F51 Steel Fast Forging is a high-quality Duplex Stainless Steel forged product, corresponding to Unified Numbering System UNS S31803 and European Standard 1.4462. F51 is renowned for its duplex microstructure consisting of approximately 50% austenite and 50% ferrite. Through rapid forging processes (Hot Forging / Die Forging), the material achieves a denser grain structure, significantly enhancing its mechanical properties.

F51 Duplex Stainless Steel forgings combine the toughness of austenitic stainless steel with the high strength and resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of ferritic stainless steel. Our forging process strictly adheres to ASTM standards, ensuring each product can withstand harsh conditions involving high pressure, high corrosion, and elevated temperatures.

Key Characteristics

Ultra-High Strength

The yield strength of ASTM A182 F51 forgings is approximately twice that of conventional 304 or 316 austenitic stainless steels, allowing for lightweight design in engineering applications.

Excellent Corrosion Resistance

The material contains 21.0-23.0% chromium, 2.5-3.5% molybdenum, and nitrogen additions, providing exceptional resistance to pitting (PREN ≥ 32-33) and crevice corrosion, particularly suitable for environments containing chlorides and hydrogen sulfide (H2S).

Hot Working & Heat Treatment

All our F51 forgings undergo Solution Annealing, heat-treated at a minimum temperature of 1020°C followed by rapid quenching, ensuring the precipitation of harmful phases is avoided and the material's optimal corrosion resistance and toughness are restored.

Chemical Composition & Mechanical Properties

To ensure traceability and quality, we provide EN 10204 3.1/3.2 material certificates.

Company Advantages

Choosing us as your ASTM A182 F51 Steel Fast Forging supplier provides you with more than just a shipment of goods; you gain a partner with metallurgical expertise and international supply chain management capabilities.

Source Factory, Strict Raw Material Control

We operate a complete forging production line, from raw material sawing and heating to forging and heat treatment, with full in-house control. We only purchase raw materials from reputable domestic steel mills or imports, ensuring the chemical composition of each batch of F51 Duplex Stainless Steel Forgings complies with ASTM and ASME standards, eliminating casting defects such as porosity and slag inclusions.

01

Full-Process Inspection & Certification

  • Physical & Chemical Laboratory: Equipped with spectrometers, universal testing machines, low-temperature impact testing machines (down to -196°C), and hardness testers to ensure product mechanical properties.
  • Non-Destructive Testing: Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT) available upon request to ensure internal quality meets high-temperature and high-pressure service requirements.
  • Certificates: Can provide certification conforming to EN 10204 3.1/3.2, as well as NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 certification for sour service applications.

02

Professional Knowledge & Technology

Duplex stainless steel has a narrow forging temperature window and is extremely sensitive to heat treatment processes. Our technical team possesses over 20 years of experience, precisely controlling heating temperatures (to avoid sigma phase precipitation) and deformation. We understand that the corrosion resistance of F51 forgings depends not only on the steel mill's smelting but also on the effectiveness of subsequent hot working and solution annealing treatments.

03

Ample Inventory, Fast Delivery

We maintain a large inventory of ASTM A182 F51 round bar stock, covering various diameter specifications. Whether for standard flanges, valve forgings, or custom non-standard fasteners requiring mold development, we can respond in the shortest possible time. Small routine parts support expedited production to help you shorten project lead times.

04

Rich Export Experience

Our products are consistently exported to Europe, North America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. We are familiar with international packaging standards (e.g., fumigated wooden crates, pallet packaging) and can properly protect threads and finished surfaces, ensuring goods arrive intact at the customer's destination after long sea voyages.

faq

What is the difference between ASTM A182 F51 and UNS S31803?

There is essentially no difference. ASTM A182 F51 is the standard specification number, while UNS S31803 is the unified numbering system designation for the same material. They both refer to the same duplex stainless steel grade containing 22% Chromium, 5% Nickel, and 3% Molybdenum. Manufacturers and engineers often use these terms interchangeably when specifying Duplex Stainless Steel Forgings.

What is the equivalent European standard for ASTM A182 F51?

The equivalent European standard for ASTM A182 F51 is 1.4462. It is also commonly referred to as X2CrNiMoN22-5-3 under the EN 10088 standard. When purchasing F51 forged components for projects in Europe, specifying "1.4462" ensures compliance with local material standards.

Is ASTM A182 F51 suitable for sour service (H₂S environments)?

Yes, ASTM A182 F51 is widely used in sour service applications. It is compliant with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 standards, which define the requirements for materials used in oil and gas production environments containing hydrogen sulfide (H₂S). However, hardness must be carefully controlled during forging and heat treatment, typically below 28 HRC, to ensure sulfide stress cracking (SSC) resistance.

Can ASTM A182 F51 be welded?

Yes, F51 duplex stainless steel exhibits good weldability. However, it requires specific welding procedures to maintain the phase balance and properties. Low heat input processes are generally recommended, and the use of filler metals such as ER2209 is common. Post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) is not typically required but may be specified for certain highly stressed applications.

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for custom F51 forgings?

Our MOQ for custom ASTM A182 F51 forgings depends on the complexity and size. For standard flanges and fittings, we accept orders as low as 1 piece for some sizes. For custom dies or complex shapes, the MOQ might be higher to justify tooling costs. Please contact us with your specific requirements for a detailed quotation.

How do you ensure the quality of the raw material for F51 forgings?

Quality starts with the raw material. We source our steel from accredited mills that provide mill test certificates (MTC). Upon arrival, we perform random positive material identification (PMI) checks using a spectrometer to verify the chemical composition. This ensures that no mixed materials enter our production line, guaranteeing that the final ASTM A182 F51 forged product meets the required specifications.
